March special election in Hampton

Hampton has set a special election for March 19 to finish the current mayoral term. The seat has been empty since Mayor R.W. Coley died Oct. 17.

If any sitting councilman with more than 12 months remaining on his term resigns to seek the mayor’s seat, a special election for that council seat will take place at the same time.

The regular mayoral election is set for November of 2013.
