3 qualify for Acworth alderman post
Brett North, Kevin Wigington and Patrick Cooney have qualified for the Acworth Post 3 alderman seat vacated by Bob Weatherford in February. North, a planning and zoning board member, ran for the post in 2011. Wigington serves on the Acworth Historic Preservation Commission and Cooney is a former alderman. Tucker McQueen for the AJC

Cherokee hospital donates equipment
Northside Hospital-Cherokee, part of the Partner in Education program with Cherokee High School, recently donated supplies to support the school's health care science program. The equipment helps train students who have an interest in the medical field. The hospital and the high school have been linked in the partner program for a decade. Mark Woolsey for the AJC

Maloof named new Decatur High principal
City Schools Decatur tapped Noel Maloof, 44, as the new Decatur High principal Tuesday night. Maloof is currently in his second year as Dunwoody High principal and has spent 16 years in education, with previous stops as principal at Vanderlyn Elementary and assistant principal assignments at the DeKalb Alternative School and Dunwoody High. County watershed group wins state award
DeKalb County’s Watershed Department recently won a state award for its program to help eliminate fats, oils and grease from sewer pipes.
The Georgia FOG Alliance's award recognizes the county's accomplishments to inspect restaurants for grease collection and other tracking and enforcement issues. Information: www.dekalbwatershed.com. April Hunt

Peachtree City has new website
Peachtree City Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new website. It is available in PC, tablet and mobile formats.
There’s an interactive map for planning and navigation. It highlights hotels, shopping, restaurants, parks and other attractions in and around the city, which turned 55 March 9.
