2014 Gwinnett property tax bills were mailed by Friday. All bills will have a single-installment due date of Oct. 1. School sidewalk project underway

Cherokee County School District officials say a project installing sidewalks and bike racks at several campuses should be done within the first month of school, weather permitting.

The $400,000, GDOT-administered Safe Routes to School project began earlier this month. Sidewalks and bike racks are being put in at the Ball Ground and Holly Springs elementary school STEM academies, with bike racks also slated for Bascomb, Carmel, Knox and Woodstock elementary schools and Woodstock Middle School. Way cleared for Sam’s Club project

Developers of a planned Sam’s Club near Ga. 92 and Main Street in Woodstock told the City Council Monday night they plan to start construction in the 4th quarter and finish by September of 2015.

The Council approved several zoning variances and a conditional use permit for the project, including increasing parking spaces and allowing the use of stucco. Mark Woolsey for the AJC

Dunwoody to hold resident meetings

Dunwoody will continue its series of community conversations 7-9 p.m. Aug. 28 at Dunwoody Nature Center, 5343 Roberts Drive.

Peachtree City Water & Sewerage Authority is accepting application for a nonpaying position on the board of the Water & Sewerage Authority. Applicants must have lived in Peachtree City for six months.
