Public safety academy starts next month
The Cobb County Department of Public Safety will offer a Citizens Public Safety Academy for residents. Participants will experience the Emergency Communications Center, Fire, Animal Control and Police, and how each performs its duties in protecting the citizens of Cobb County.
The free 14-week program will consist of 6:30 p.m. classes every Tuesday from Sept. 10 through Dec. 10 at various locations. Applicants must be over 21 and residents of Cobb County or work for the Cobb County government.

As part of the Suwanee Police Department’s voluntary re-accreditation process, assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. invite the public to comment at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Crossroads Center, 323 Buford Highway.

Woodall plans town hall meetings

Youth soccer league registration underway
Registration is underway for youth soccer leagues that begin in September.
Registration is open until today at all county recreation centers for the league, which is open to children between 4 and 13. Fees range from $45 to $85 per child and include uniforms.

Town hall set to discuss road improvements
District III Commissioner Gary Barham will host a town hall meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 31, in the Activity Center of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 992 Mt. Bethel Road, McDonough.
