Marcus center to hold Hanukkah celebrations

East Point seeks deputy fire marshals

The East Point Fire Department is actively seeking participants for the community deputy fire marshal program. Program volunteers will receive training in areas such as CPR, first aid, family emergency preparedness, blood pressure screening, smoke alarm installation, and community policing.

Volunteers will be provided with special uniforms and badges. They will also be provided with items such as blood pressure monitoring kits and emergency planning kits.

Volunteer fire marshals will inspect homes in the neighborhoods and train residents in emergency planning and communicate fire/crime prevention information. I

Day camp New Year’s week in Henry

The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Snowing New Year’s Day Camp for the second week of the holiday break 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and Jan. 2-4, for children 6-12. Saint Phillip AME hosts christmas musical

The Reverend William D. Watley and the Saint Philip AME Church Music Department host the 28th Annual Joyful Noise for Toys Christmas Musical 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 240 Candler Road. The Sanctuary Choir, Choir No.1, the Youth Choir, and the Holy Dance Ministry will be featured.

Annual “Tree of Love” under way

The Tree of Love program creates wish lists for holiday gifts for low-income children as well as those in foster care. Residents can select names from the tree, to help make sure the children have something to open for the holidays.

The tree is set up at South DeKalb Mall, 2801 Candler Road, near Decatur. All gifts are due back to the mall by Dec. 15.
