The Atlanta City Council's Utilities Committee is scheduled Tuesday to discuss legislation to rename Raymond Street SW to SNCC Way SW.

SNCC stands for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a civil rights organization founded in 1960. Its leadership included now U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.). The legislation was proposed by councilmen Michael Julian Bond and Ivory Lee Young Jr.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Atlanta City Hall, Committee Room 2. City Hall is located at 55 Trinity Ave. SW. Committee Room 2 is on the second floor.
