A Marietta High School student allegedly took one of her teacher's wallets from her desk and then used some of the woman's credit cards.

But it wasn't hard to figure out which student was responsible: She took the time to write an apology note while the teacher was out of the classroom, according to police.

Britshonna Lashaun Patterson, 17, of Marietta, was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into the Cobb County Jail, where she remained Tuesday morning, jail records show. Patterson faces numerous felony charges, including theft by taking, credit card theft and credit card fraud, after allegedly grabbing the wallet Feb. 28, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.

In addition to the apology note left on the teacher's desk, another faculty member reported seeing Patterson at the teacher's desk, the warrant states.

After allegedly taking the wallet, Patterson is accused of using credit cards to purchase items from the school vending machines four times, the warrant states. She allegedly also used a stolen credit card the following day at a Quik Pik convenience store, located across Lemon Street from Marietta police headquarters, according to police.

Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Patterson on March 9 and arrested her Monday at the police station, according to jail records. She was being held Tuesday on $3,000 bond.
