Atlanta police are seeking the public's help catching a man who allegedly tried to kidnap two women early Wednesday morning, Channel 2 Action News reported.

"We have a predator that's roaming the streets of Atlanta right now, and it's very serious to us,” police Sgt. Curtis Davenport told Channel 2.

A group of friends were sitting on the porch of a Mayson Avenue home in northeast Atlanta about 2 a.m. when a masked man with a gun allegedly ran up to them, grabbed one of them, marched her up the street and stuffed her in the trunk of his car.

The alleged abductor drove off, but the woman popped the emergency release latch inside the trunk and escaped.

About a half-hour later, the same man tried to kidnap another woman walking to her car less than a mile away on Hawthorne Street, but the man fled after a neighbor intervened, police said.

"We hope to be able to put all the pieces together and … put together a composite sketch to seek help in identifying this subject,” Davenport said.

Police said they are looking for a black man in his 20s, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a skinny build and shoulder-length dreadlocks and driving a small dark sedan with front-end damage.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call Atlanta police or Atlanta Crime Stoppers, 404-577-TIPS (8477).
