Cops: Missing Gainesville man died in car crash
A 22-year-old Gainesville man missing from home since Sunday has died in a car crash in Hall County, according to police.
The man, who police identified Wednesday as Cody Lamar Griffin, was reported missing Sunday from the 2300 block of Pinehurst Way. Griffin was last heard from on Saturday, around 2 a.m., authorities said.
A public utilities crew discovered his crashed SUV around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the 2100 block of Candler Road and reported it to police. The SUV appeared to have left the roadway, overturned and crashed in the woods, police said. Griffin's body was discovered inside the SUV.
Foul play is not suspected in the incident, police said.
