East Point police are looking for a man they believe shot two women Tuesday inside of an hour.
The first woman was shot just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday outside a gas station on Cleveland Avenue in East Point, Channel 2 Action News reported. Investigators believe the man shot a second woman on Orly Terrace near Godby Road outside College Park around 7:40 a.m.
The first woman remains in critical condition. The second woman, Aingelique Moore, told Channel 2 that a man drove up beside her and told her to get into his car, described as a newer-model silver compact car. She refused and kept walking, she said.
The man then shot her in the arm. She ran and hit, she said, but he came back.
"If he shot me one time you know he was gonna come back and try and shoot again," she told Channel 2.
East Point police believe the same man shot another woman minutes before he shot Moore, Lt. Cliff Chandler told Channel 2. The first woman was severely injured.
"We're really concerned about the welfare of the public since this individual is out and about on the street," Cliff Chandler said.
Police have described the shooter as a light-skinned, muscular black man standing between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall with tightly woven dreadlocks and puffy eyes. At the time of the shootings, he was believed to have been wearing a royal blue sleeveless shirt and white and blue shorts, and was driving a silver sedan.
Chandler said investigators believe the man was trying to get sex for money.
Anyone with information on either of the shootings is asked to call East Point police at 404-761-2177.
