Cobb County police have charged a man accused of crashing a vehicle and leaving his injured passenger alone at the scene of the collision.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Carlos Garcia Leon, who is charged with felony hit and run and failure to maintain lane in connection to the single-vehicle crash reported around 4:40 a.m. March 16.

According to the warrant, Leon was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt on Windy Hill Road near Austell Road in Marietta when the car left the roadway and “flipped over approximately eight times.”

The car came to a rest and Leon left the area on foot, leaving the female passenger “alone on the side of a dark road by herself,” the warrant adds.

She was found with cuts to her head and serious neck injuries, and was transported to WellStar Cobb Hospital for treatment.

Cobb police spokesperson Neil Penirelli said Leon, a resident of the northeast Georgia town of Clayton, has not been booked into the sheriff’s office’s Adult Detention Center.
