A man being booked into the Gwinnett County Jail faces additional charges for allegedly having a stolen gun with him, the sheriff's office said Friday.

Andre Ayddele Rose, caught with the .25-caliber handgun Monday, remained in jail Friday afternoon on $12,700 bond, jail records show.

Rose allegedly brought the gun with him in the "pre-admissions" area of the jail, Lt. Sean Smith with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office said Friday. Deputies found the gun, which had been stolen, before it made to the inmate housing area, Smith said.

Originally arrested on a misdemeanor drug and traffic-related charges, Rose now faces two felony charges related to the weapon. He has been charged with theft by receiving stolen property and crossing the guard line, in addition to the misdemeanor charge of carrying a deadly weapon, Smith said.

The gun incident remains under investigation, Smith said.
