He just hadn't gotten around to it.
Dunwoody police pulled over a motorist Sunday morning when they noticed his brake light was out and discovered that the man's license had been suspended for 20 years.
Police stopped Ricky Russell, 54, of Atlanta, in his white GMC Safari van in the 5400 block of Chamblee-Dunwoody Road around 7 a.m. for the brake light violation and discovered Russell's license had been suspended in 1992. His license was initially suspended because he had no car insurance.
Police also discovered that Russell had been arrested on the same charge in Dunwoody back in July 2011, according to police spokesman Sgt. Fidel Espinosa. In July police pulled Russell over because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, Espinosa said.
Why hadn't Russell taken care of the suspension? "He said he was just trying to pay the rent and just can't get caught up," financially, said Espinosa.
