Cops: Alcohol may be factor in fatal Austell crash
Cobb County police continue to investigate a fatal wreck last month, and they suspect alcohol was a factor.
The crash happened Dec. 21 around 7 p.m. on McEachern Way near Brownsville Road in Powder Springs.
Joel A. Worthington, 49, of Marietta, died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the wreck, police said they were told by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday.
According to investigators, Worthington was driving a black 1999 Chevrolet Silverado truck northbound on McEachern Way when he collided with a retaining wall in front of the residence in the 4800 block. He was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
Investigators said they suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Anyone with information on the incident should call authorities at 770-499-3987.
