College Park’s Georgia International Convention Center is pursuing Leadership of Energy and Environmental Design certification, granted for taking sustainability measures. The GICC launched a $7 million plan that includes major lighting upgrades, refurbishing its water systems, heating, cooling and automation systems.

SCIenergy, Inc. based in Dallas, Texas, will oversee the project.

LEED certification would make the GICC one of the highest-rated convention centers in Georgia, joining the adjacent Marriott, SpringHill Suites as LEED-certified buildings within the Gateway Center complex.
