The Henry County Police Department will be spending more than $150,000 in seized funds for some much-needed equipment upgrades to assist in its crime-fighting efforts.

Thanks to a resolution approved Dec. 5 by the Board of Commissioners, the department will acquire 14 new in-car camera systems as well as surveillance system equipment for the South Precinct interview room and two new undercover cars for the Flint Circuit Drug Task Force. Also approved was the hiring of a firm for a course in interviewing techniques. The total for all of these items is $152,096.92 and the money will come from federal asset forfeiture and seized funds.
