It will be a wintry weekend in metro Atlanta — cold with a few snow flurries — but there will still be plenty of events for those who want to get out of the house.
For the second consecutive weekend, downtown Atlanta will be hosting a major motocross event Saturday and Sunday.
This time, the motorcyclists will be taking over Philips Arena for the Nuclear Cowboyz tour, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Friday night, singer Pink makes a stop at Philips for an 8 p.m. show.
In college basketball, Georgia Tech takes on North Carolina State at 6 p.m. Sunday at McCamish Pavilion on the Tech campus.
The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus wraps up a stay at the Gwinnett Arena with a pair of performances on Friday, three on Saturday and two on Sunday, while the UniverSoul Circus has pitched its tent through Sunday in the Green Lot at Turner Field.
Fans headed to those events will want to be aware of weekend road construction that is expected to block portions of several interstates around town.
On the top-end Perimeter, the three right lanes of I-285 eastbound will be closed from Paces Ferry Road to New Northside Drive and again from Roswell Road past Ga. 400, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday. The three right lanes of I-285 westbound will be blocked the same hours from Ashford Dunwoody Road to Ga. 400.
Also on I-285, the two right lanes of I-285 southbound at Bolton Road will be closed from 1 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
In DeKalb County, the right lane of I-20 eastbound will be closed all weekend from Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road.
All of the road construction closures are weather-permitting, and with the exception of a slight chance of a sprinkle or brief snow flurry on Saturday, the weekend should be dry.
Highs will be in the mid-40s, with lows in the upper 20s or low 30s.
