The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed last week to spend $2,181,260 from cell tower funds for repairs of tennis courts and replacement of playground equipment and safety surface material at several parks.

Eight tennis courts at Fair Oaks, Fullers, Harrison, Hurt Road, Kennworth, Rhyne, Sweetwater and Terrell Mill will be maintained, resurfaced and repaired.

Playground equipment will be replaced at 15 parks at Al Bishop Softball Complex, Bells Ferry, Big Shanty, Clarkdale, East Cobb, Harrison, Kennworth, Larry Bell, Mud Creek, Oakdale, Powder Springs, Sandy Plains, Sweetwater, Terrell Mill and Wildhorse Creek.

Safety surface material of engineered wood fiber will be replenished or replaced at 19 parks at East Cobb, Fair Oaks, Fullers, Harrison, Lions, Lost Mountain, Nickajack, Noonday, O.C. Hubert, Oregon, Perry Parham, Pitner Road Dog Park, Rhyne, Sewell, South Cobb Recreation Center, Terrell Mill, Thompson, Tramore and Wallace.
