Cobb County’s new Public Services Agency director is William “Willie” Tanks who recently retired after 26 years with the Cobb County Fire Department.
Tanks, a Deputy Chief when he retired, was selected by a 5-0 vote March 13 of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.
Besides his long career in firefighting, Tanks holds master’s degrees in business administration and accounting.
Tanks will be in charge of a county agency that oversees the Public Library System; the University of Georgia Extension Service; the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Senior Services Department.
He replaces Dr. Jackie McMorris who was named Deputy County Manager late last year.
