A 21-year-old Powder Springs man was killed in a crash early Friday.

Police said alcohol was involved when Fernando Hernandez “disregarded the (traffic) signal” at Lost Mountain and Bullard roads in Powder Springs and “entered into the path of” a 2013 BMW 528 heading north about 12:30 a.m.

Hernandez, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. He was pronounced dead at WellStar South Cobb Hospital.

The 49-year-old male driver of the BMW had minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital.

Investigators do not expect to file charges in the case, but anyone with information can call police at 770-499-3987.
