Three Cobb County high schools have risen to the top of the cream, according to a national educational ranking.

Walton High School ranked highest, at ranked No. 6, on the list of the top 100 public high schools in Georgia by Niche.com, which ranks K-12 schools and colleges according to students test scores, surveys and other data.

Niche developed the ranking from the school districts' latest U.S. Department of Education data, usually from 2013-14. The ranking also heavily incorporated alumni, parent and student surveys in many categories, as well as schools' self-reported data on test scores, college readiness and teacher quality.

The top 25 list of Georgia high schools includes 22 metro Atlanta schools, including six in Fulton County, five in Gwinnett County and three each in Cobb and DeKalb counties.

Forsyth and Fayette counties and Buford and Decatur city schools also made the list with one school each.
