There could be 52 new faces coming to save your behind in Cobb County soon.

This year’s Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services recruiting class was the largest since 1990, said Denell Boyd, agency spokeswoman.

The typical class size is between 20 and 30, she said.

Boyd said such a large amount of hires was needed because of not only retirements but also a new station, No. 29, is on the way. Twenty-one of the new firefighters will go to the new station.

This latest class brings the agency’s total staff to 699 employees, she said.
