A 1920 tenant farmhouse has been placed on the Cobb County Register of Historic Places by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

That means any exterior changes to the house at 1763 Holly Springs Road would have to be approved by the county’s Historic Preservation Commission.

Curtis and Emily Boland made this request of the commissioners to place their Casteel-Nix-Volin House on the county register.

Sitting on 1.4 acres, the “saddlebag-type” house is “one of the few remaining examples of past architectural style and has historic significance as a representative of Cobb County’s agricultural heritage,” according to the county resolution.

The original saddlebag portion is two rooms with a stone chimney in the middle with a full-length shed front porch.
