A Cobb County man says his apartment has forced him into the role of part time opossum hunter.

Jeremy Wolfe says he's been dealing with the opossums creeping into his place at The Legacy at Acworth apartments for months.

"I have seen about 15 of them throughout the apartment running out," Wolfe told Channel 2 Action News. "Who knows how many are actually in the walls at night. I hear them scratching."

Wolfe and his roommate trapped a few young opossums with the help of their dog, but the animals keep popping up.

Wolfe says the apartment staff seemed hesitant to help the situation.

One night, Wolfe spotted an opossum and followed it back to a hole in the wall.

The apartment staff patched up the hole temporarily with duct tape.

"He put a duct tape patch over the wall just with a roll of duct tape, and we weren't getting anywhere," Wolfe said.

Channel 2’s Carl Willis spoke with the regional manager of the apartment complex. He said he put in a more permanent patch and the staff was working to make this right.

“It's completely unsanitary," Wolfe said. "They have to go to the bathroom somewhere, unfortunately, I've seen it in the kitchen. I've seen it beside the water heater."
