Anonymous complaints will soon be more difficult to file in Cobb County.
Cobb Code Enforcement staff says the change is “necessary due to the large number of false or unsubstantiated allegations that are filed anonymously through the online resident access portal.”
Nearly 2,000 unsubstantiated anonymous complaints have been filed through the online portal in the past two years. As a result, Code Enforcement officers are spending a large amount of time and county resources investigating allegations that have not been verified, the statement added.
Starting Feb. 13, complaints that are filed through the online portal will require the complainant to provide a name, address and telephone number.
However, residents, who wish to remain anonymous, may file anonymous complaints by calling Code Enforcement staff at 770-528-2180 or visiting the office 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1150 Powder Springs Road, Suite 400, Marietta.
A staff member will be talk with the complainant about the alleged violation and obtain necessary details to move forward with an investigation.
