Have you ever wanted a dog or cat for Christmas?
The Cobb County Animal Shelter is offering a special discount for all adoptable dogs and cats this holiday season.
Animal control wants help clearing the shelter for the holidays and finding forever homes for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.
The shelter currently has approximately 300 cats and dogs and offers promotions every month, according to Billy Mayfield, the Cobb County animal control manager.
In a Facebook post, Cobb County announced a special adoption rate throughout the month of December.
The searchable animal shelter database lists less than 150 cats and dogs that are up for adoption now or will be at one point in December.
Mayfield recommends first-time adopters to spend plenty of time with animals at the shelter to pick the right dog for your family and lifestyle.
"We don't want people to make a rash decision," Mayfield said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Think this one through."
Uncertain customers can also purchase a gift certificate that can be used towards an adoption.
The animal shelter is also looking for volunteers. Volunteers must pass a background check and go through orientation.
