Cobb County police are warning residents about a couple using a lawn care business scam to find houses to burglarize.

Police said several residents in Smyrna and neighboring Cobb County cities reported a man and woman driving a U-Haul pickup truck and offering to perform lawn care chemical treatments on homes.

The duo uses the lawn care activities to distract homeowners while they conduct surveillance on the homes that they then burglarize, police said.

Older residents are believed to be targets, police said.

The man is described as being in his early 50s. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 130 pounds, with no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a light blue, long-sleeve shirt.

The woman is described as a heavy-set female who was seen wearing large round earrings.

Anyone who observed any suspicious activity or behavior is encouraged to call the Smyrna Police Department at (770-434-6666) or 911 immediately.
