The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved five commercial applications and a residential request Sept. 19:

  • A Cook Out restaurant with a drive-thru on the south side of Church Road, east of South Cobb Drive and on the east side of South Cobb Drive across from Highlands Parkway by Aspen Hills Associates LLC as the owner. Originated in 1989 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the company has locations in 10 states.
  • A one-year land use permit for an auto shop on the south side of Six Flags Parkway, west of Queens Ferry Drive, and on the west side of Old Howells Ferry Road by Marshall E. Drinkard behind his home. While opposed by Robin Meyer of the Mableton Improvement Coalition due to its proximity to residences, Commissioner Lisa Cupid noted that Drinkard's neighbors approved of his request and that his home also is next to BFI Waste Systems.
  • A convenience store with fuel sales on the north side of Dallas Highway, east of Martin Ridge Drive by Shine and Drive LLC.
  • A climate-controlled self-service storage facility on the west side of Canton Road, north of Sylvan Drive by Storage Development Group with AGWC Holdings, Inc. as the owner.
  • A daycare facility on the north side of Burnt Hickory Road, west of New Salem Road by Burnt Hickory Church of Christ, Inc.
  • A single-family subdivision on the west side of Weaver Street and the east side of Maner Street by Pradera Group LLC with Margaret Kimmons Wix as the owner.
