The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Acworth now will be allowed to pour liquor in addition to beer and wine - though the post is less than 600 feet from the property line of Cedarcrest Church at 4800 North Cobb Parkway.
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to support the 5-0 approval of the Cobb County License Review Board in its Dec. 15 override of the denial by Cobb Business License Division Manager Sandra Richardson.
On behalf of VFW Post 5408, 4764 North Cobb Parkway, William Lienhop Jr. told the review board he is hoping the addition of liquor will increase revenue for the post.
VFW Post 5408 has had a beer and wine at this location since 2003, and Cedarcrest Church opened in 2013, according to Dana R. Johnson, director of Cobb County Community Development Agency, in a Tuesday memo to the commissioners.
No opposition was expressed by church officials, Richardson said.
