Cobb County Airport McCollum Field’s first operations employee is Steven Spencer, transferring from the Cobb Department of Transportation.

With an Aviation Management degree from Auburn University, Spencer will enhance safety, ensure regulatory compliance, oversee contracts and leases and serve as an additional public contact.

Airport administrative offices are being renovated in the base building of the former air traffic control tower, where the old control tower shaft has been demolished at the airport, 1723 McCollum Parkway NW, Kennesaw.

Besides being 78 feet tall instead of 43 feet, the new air traffic control tower has increased space for equipment and a new rotating beacon.

The airport has a new Twitter account, Cobb County Airport, to send such notices as runway closures, equipment outages or operational changes and newsletter signups available as a friend of McCollum at CobbCountyAirport.org.
