Folks using High Point Road in Sandy Springs to get from one place to another may have to find a different route next week.

The City of Sandy Springs says that a stretch of the road - between Forest Valley Road and High Brook Drive - will be closed beginning Monday, April 3. The road will be closed so Colonial Pipeline can conduct maintenance work on its underground pipes that cross the road.

During the work, flaggers will be stationed at each end to detour drivers. Residents will have access to their driveways during the construction period.

Rusty Paul, the mayor of Sandy Springs, wrote on his Facebook page:  “Normally, the City requires a minimum two-week advance community notice. As High Point Elementary and Ridgeview Charter Middle School will be on spring break next week, the City is permitting the work to coincide with that break. (Atlanta Jewish Academy, also impacted, has its spring break the following week). Colonial is reaching out to property owners directly impacted, and the city will also conduct outreach related to the pending closure.”

The work could take up to five days to complete.
