Clerk shot at Ponce gas station
A clerk at a northeast Atlanta gas station was recovering Tuesday morning after being shot overnight.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the shooting happened at the Exxon station and convenience store in the 1100 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue.
The victim, 46-year-old Jack Alieu, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Surveillance video showed that Alieu was shot by one of two men who entered the store around 11:30 p.m.
“One of the males pointed a gun at the store clerk, but when Mr. Alieu started to back up, he was shot once to the side,” Jones said. “The shooter appeared uneasy handling the gun, and both males fled the scene before taking anything.”
She said the men were seen running south on Moreland Avenue, “but possibly had a vehicle waiting for them in the parking lot just south of the Exxon.”
