Officials surprised two Atlanta city school teachers on Tuesday by giving each of them more than $1,000 worth of classroom supplies.

Benita Edwards of White Elementary School and Ronnie Thomas of Parkside Elementary School were nominated by their respective principals as part of OfficeMax's annual "A Day Made Better" program.

The program distributes $1 million worth of supplies -- including digital cameras, printers and essentials like paper -- among more than 1,000 educators nationwide on the same day every year.
