The Battery Atlanta has announced its lineup for the holiday season, which primarily includes several Christmas events.

It is the second holiday season for The Battery Atlanta, and they’re having plenty of Christmas events.

Changes from last year's celebration include the addition of a nightly light show and the nixing of the ice skating rink at the mixed-use development, which is attached to the Braves' SunTrust Park.

“With so many places offering ice skating we decided to do something different,” said Braves spokeswoman Beth Marshall.

The organizers behind Marietta Square's ice skating rink said something similar upon announcing they were doing away with the wintry attraction this year. They heard there were going to be 17 rinks around metro Atlanta this holiday season.

As for that new light show, it will be an “immersive sound and light display” throughout the plaza every hour from 6 to 9 p.m. each night until Christmas Day.

The free pictures with Santa will be back for its second year. Kris Kringle will be around Thursdays through Sundays until the day of Christmas. The visits include printed and digital photos. Check the schedule here.

There will also be a special night for "four-legged family members," or pets, on Dec. 16.

The Atlanta Santa Crawl is a themed charity bar crawl around The Battery on Dec. 8. You can get details like participating restaurants/bars and specials by clicking here.

U.S. Marines will be there collecting toy donations that Toys for Tots will give to children in need of Christmas presents. This is the bar crawl’s 27th year.

On Dec. 15, the Jingle Bell Run encourages people to tie bells to their shoelaces and run five kilometers to help fund the Arthritis Foundation. Runners can register online.

And, a general tip: Free parking is available in the Red, Green and Purple Decks for four hours on non-event days at The Coca-Cola Roxy.
