Families venturing to Marietta Square Saturday will be greeted with a Christmas experience set against the backdrop of a hot and humid summer day.

Christmas in July on the Square will be held July 13 and will benefit two nonprofits that serve low-income families.

This free event, set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include photos with Santa Claus dressed in tropical attire, and an opportunity for children to send letters to the North Pole. In exchange for one professional digital photo, attendees can make a cash or toy donation to Cobb Christmas. Cobb Christmas provides gifts and toys for less fortunate children during the holiday season. Photos with Santa will begin after 10 a.m.

Residents will also be serenaded with music by Strand Ole Opry and can marvel at the work of artists who will create reindeer art they will display at the annual Winter Wonderland event in December. These artists will do this live demonstration on Mill Street at the Marietta Square Artisan Market.

Christmas in July organizers will also present a donation to the Center for Family Resources, which helps homeless families or those who are in danger of becoming homeless get back on their feet. For more information about Saturday's event, visit the Christmas in July website.
