A young boy was attacked by a pair of Rottweilers Friday morning while waiting at a bus stop in southwest Atlanta, police said.

The child, believed to be around 8 or 9 years old, was transported to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. An Atlanta police spokeswoman said she did not know the child's condition.

Another child waiting for the same school bus, near the 1300 block of Sylvan Road, managed to escape the dogs, who have separate owners. A neighbor was finally able to chase the dogs off with a stick, Channel 2 Action News reports.

Both dog owners have been cited by Fulton County Animal Control and the canines have been removed from the neighborhood, the APD spokeswoman said.
