Cherokee County commissioners have approved a list of 78 roadways totaling 16.56 miles to be submitted to the Georgia Department of Transportation for a $2.27 million Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant to resurface the streets.

The grant requires a county match of $682,671, for a total cost of $2.95 million, Geoffrey E. Morton, Cherokee Community Development Agency director, said in a report to commissioners. The work will be bid next spring and completed in the spring, summer and fall.

Subdivisions to get resurfaced streets include Camden Woods, four roads; Holly Trace, three roads; Sequoyah Woods, four roads; Shiloh Ridge, three roads; Foxhall, seven roads; Hickory Woods, four roads; Southlands, six roads; and Springfield Place, 10 roads.

Also, Waverly Hills, three roads; Waverly Park, eight roads; Centennial Place, six roads; Eagle Watch, 11 roads; Providence Place subdivision, five roads; and Township Place, four roads.

The total estimated construction cost of $3.26 million is included in the 2019 annual SPLOST budget, Morton said.
