Nearly one-third of Cherokee County School District students qualify for free or reduced-priced meals during the school year. To ensure they continue to have access to free, nutritious meals while schools are on break, the district is again participating in the USDA Seamless Summer Option.
Free breakfast and lunch or lunch only will be offered at 14 locations around the county, including schools, mobile home parks, YMCAs and a church. The program runs from June 6 through July 20 and is for youth 18 years old or younger. No meal service is planned July 4-6, with some exceptions. All food must be consumed on-site.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture; no Cherokee school funds are used. For meal times, dates and locations: http://bit.ly/CCSDmeals18. Additional information is available from the Cherokee schools nutrition department, 770-721-8419.
