Cherokee school board to consider replacing head
The Cherokee County Board of Education is set to consider a replacement for former board chair Janet Read at its next meeting July 22.
Read announced her resignation at June’s board meeting to accept a position as community outreach coordinator in Cherokee County for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
So far, current District 1 board member Kyla Cromer and former school board member Fred Larsen have applied for the position. The person selected would serve the unexpired portion of Read’s term, which is set to run through the end of 2016.
Read had served as board chair since 2012.
