The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved a partnership with Northside Hospital-Cherokee to have the hospital give $30,000 a year for five years – for a total of $150,000 – to support the Safe Kids Cherokee Program and the Cherokee County Wellness Program and Health Fare.

The hospital will donate $25,000 a year for Safe Kids, managed by Cherokee Fire & Emergency Services to prevent injuries in children from accidents and other preventable causes; and $5,000 a year for the wellness program for county employees.

The county, in turn, recognizes Northside-Cherokee as the official hospital of Cherokee government and its employees, and gives Northside the right to say so in its advertising and marketing, as well as a right of first refusal for future promotional, naming, marketing, branding and sponsorship agreements with any county agency.

Separately, county commissioners voted to extend for an additional three years an agreement with Northside-Cherokee to offer sports medicine education to local coaches and staff of the Cherokee Recreation & Parks Agency. The hospital also got exclusive rights to connect interested athletic groups with its strategic partner, Source Fitness, owner of Fusionetics software for injury prevention.
