An Alpharetta man is hospitalized after being stabbed early Monday at a Cherokee County home.

Graham Royal, 24, was visiting 24-year-old Kimberly Thomas at her home on Lyndhurst Circle in the Woodmont subdivision when he was stabbed multiple times in the face and back, according to Cherokee sheriff’s Lt. Jay Baker.

Baker said that Thomas and Royal told deputies that Thomas’ ex-boyfriend, Donald Judson Moran, had broken into the home and attacked Royal, who was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital in stable condition.

Deputies went to Moran’s home off East Cherokee Drive, but the 24-year-old suspect fled on foot when deputies arrived.

“His home was secured, and Moran returned to the residence after approximately one hour, and was placed under arrest,” Baker said in an e-mail.

When deputies executed a search warrant on the home, the knife believed to have been used in the attack was found in Moran’s bedroom, according to Baker.

Moran was charged with aggravated assault and burglary, and is being held in the Cherokee Adult Detention Center on $33,500 bond.
