The Cherokee County Fire Department accepted several new pieces of emergency equipment last week.
Four brand-new engines will be quartered at Station 7 on Barnes Road, Stations 20 and 22 on Bells Ferry Road and Station 23 on Vaughan Road in the Hickory Flat area. In addition, four new ambulances are now in service at Station 1 on Bell’s Ferry Road near Woodstock, Station 19 on Ga. 92 and at Stations 7 and 23.
A new ladder truck also has been delivered, the second for the county. One truck will be stationed at Station 24 near Sixes Road north of Woodstock, the other at Station 21 near Airport Road north of Canton. Fire spokesman Tim Cavender said having the ladder at Station 21 will reduce response times in the county’s north end.
