East Cherokee Drive at Ball Ground Highway is scheduled to be closed to through traffic July 9-11 as crews reconstruct the Patriot Railroad crossing, the Cherokee County Roads and Bridges Division announced.
The road will be closed to 15990 East Cherokee, officials said. The highway runs from northwest to southeast between Canton and Ball Ground at this location, crossing the railroad tracks just east of Ball Ground Highway.
A posted detour will direct motorists traveling from the east to turn left on Cumming Highway (Ga. 20) and right on I-575 to Canton Highway; or right on Cumming, left on Hightower Road (Ga. 369) and left on Ball Ground Road (Ga. 372). Motorists coming from the west can follow the same routes in reverse.
