Having successfully emptied the shelter last weekend by offering free adoptions of all dogs, cats, kittens and bunnies with black in their coats, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter is filling up and on Saturday will again waive its $100 adoption fee.

"At 10 a.m., the shelter pets are getting a special visitor and a special gift," according to a Facebook posting. "Santa Claus will be visiting the shelter, and he is bringing the gift of free adoptions for all the available animals. Watch this page on St. Nicholas' Day Friday, Dec. 6, for preview photos of new pets that Santa will be making available for adoption when he comes."
