Cherokee County students posted an overall ACT composite score of 22.7, exceeding composites of 21.4 for Georgia and 20.7 for the nation and ranking the district seventh in the state for the second consecutive year, officials said. Information: https://bit.ly/2WqlSay
A total of 1,598 students in Cherokee County’s six high schools took the exam this year; all six schools ranked in the top 20 percent statewide, officials said. The ACT tests students in four subject areas —English, mathematics, reading and science — and scores them on a scale of 1-36.
“Outstanding ACT scores not only reflect the dedication of our students and teachers to ensuring mastery of knowledge, but also are a reliable indicator that our students graduate prepared for college and career success,” Cherokee County schools Superintendent Brian V. Hightower said.
