The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners this week approved plans for one residential development, left a second one on hold and saw a third proposal scuttled.
Commissioners OK’d Gates Construction LLC’s request to rezone about 20 acres on Owens Store Road near East Cherokee Drive. Approval of the single-family residential reclassification allows for development of a 33-lot subdivision with a greater allowed density of 1.65 units per acre.
Commissioners also approved a 30-day postponement of Pacific Group’s request to rezone nearly 30 acres on Charles Cox Drive from agricultural to single-family residential.
The developer requested the postponement as it grapples with a planning commission requirement that the development have a fully functional second entrance because of expected traffic.
Commissioners also accepted RRR 2015 LLC’s request to withdraw a proposed rezoning of 18.37 acres on Ball Ground Highway for residential development. Planning commissioners had recommended denial.
