Charges have been dropped against an Atlanta Public Schools teacher who was arrested in Norfolk, Va., in July.

Philania Patton, a teacher at Cascade Elementary, was charged with simple assault and violation of a protective order, Norfolk authorities said. Those charges were dismissed Aug. 26, records show.

Patton was in Norfolk for a court appearance regarding custody of her grandchild.
