DeKalb County's new school superintendent, Cheryl L. H. Atkinson, will be sworn into her new post at a ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Decatur. Superior Court Judge Gregory Adams will officiate. After a private reception with her family, Atkinson will begin her first day over Georgia's third largest school system with a tour of six schools, starting at 11 a.m. She plans to visit Clifton and Eldridge Miller elementary schools, Columbia and Salem middle schools and Redan and McNair high schools. She plans to visit all of the districts schools soon.
