The Canton City Council will talk about several items related to upgrading the city’s trail system at its meeting Thursday.

The Council will consider awarding a contract for construction of the Etowah River Park to Heritage Park trail segment—about a three-quarter-mile stretch—to Curb Tech, Inc. for roughly $373,000. The council will also weigh city staff’s recommendation to have the Atkins engineering firm proceed with detailed design of the Heritage Park to Boling Park portion of the overall Etowah RiverTrail project, with the work to be done for approximately $470,000 in two phases.

In addition, council members will consider a resolution supporting the park department’s application for a Georgia Recreational Trails Program grant to fund construction of a canoe/kayak launch along the trail system.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at city hall, 151 Elizabeth St.
