A Burger King restaurant in Cobb County was robbed early Friday, the latest in a string of holdups at metro Atlanta fast food restaurants in recent months.

Police told the AJC that a man carrying a shotgun and wearing a bandana to conceal his face held up the Burger King at Dallas Highway and Barrett Parkway around 1 a.m.

According to investigators, the man, who employees only described as "young,"  forced an employee to let him into the restaurant. Once inside, the man demanded cash. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man fled the scene, according to police. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call 770-499-3945.

More than 20 robberies have occurred at Burger Kings, Taco Bells and KFC restaurants since April. On Wednesday, a man who was attempting to rob the Burger King on Peachtree Road in Buckhead was shot and killed by an Atlanta police officer.

Also on Friday, two bandits struck the Waffle House at U.S. 78 and Rockbridge Road in Gwinnett County. It was the 18th time in two weeks that a Waffle House was robbed at gunpoint.

One of the first restaurants robbed was on Brook Hollow Parkway in Norcross, not far from the company's headquarters.

Since then, restaurants in Gwinnett, DeKalb, Fulton and Henry counties have been hit, authorties said. All of the robberies followed a similar pattern, police told the AJC.
